4. Device Data — How We Handle Your Files
Because data recovery is our core service, we want to be especially transparent about how we handle the data on your device.
4.1 Backup Creation
As part of the recovery process, we create a local, offline backup of recovered data. This backup is stored on our internal, air-gapped storage systems that are not connected to the internet.
4.2 Delivery of Your Data
Upon completion of service and receipt of payment, we copy your recovered data to a USB drive, which is shipped to you along with your device. Your data travels with your device and is delivered directly to you.
4.3 Optional Cloud Upload
If you request it, we can upload your recovered data to a cloud storage service of your choice prior to shipping. We support iCloud and other major cloud storage providers as requested. We will only perform a cloud upload with your explicit instruction, and we do not retain credentials for any cloud service.
4.4 Retention and Deletion of Local Backups
After shipping your device and data, we retain your local offline backup for a period of 30 days. This retention period exists solely as a safety net in case of shipping issues or delivery problems.
After 30 days, your backup is permanently deleted from our systems. You may also notify us at any time before the 30-day period has elapsed that it is safe to delete your backup, and we will do so promptly upon your request.
We do not use retained backups for any purpose other than the safety net described above.
5. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Our safeguards include:
- Device data is stored only on offline, air-gapped storage media not accessible from the internet
- Our customer portal and website use SSL/TLS encryption for all communications
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor; we do not store payment card data
- Access to customer data is limited to our small family team
- Physical access to our repair facility and storage systems is controlled and restricted
While we implement strong safeguards, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected customers as required by applicable law.
